On November 3, 1916, at 5.30 in the morning, a Swedish transporter was sent to the bottom by a German submarine (U22) when trying to cross a Finnish blockade. However, the 60 tons-freight, consisting of wine, champagne and spirits, meant for Tsar Nikolaj II, never reached its destination. For 82 years, the exquisite goods lay 64 meters deep in the Baltic sea. To the great surprise of the connoisseurs, the quality of the champagne is still impeccable.
